What is Plugsound? |
|||||||
Plugsound unites two previously unrelated tools, and simplifies your music day after day. It is the result of two worlds merging into one: a professional sound library meets a virtual instrument. As a result each Plugsound consists of two elements on your hard drive: a plug-in and a sound library data file. The plug-in: Identical in every volume of the series, the Plug-in is a sample-playback virtual instrument powered by the enormously powerful UVI-Engine. The UVI-Engine was created in 2000 and is used in many great products. Look elsewhere on this site for more on the UVI-Engine and upcoming third-party products. Plugsound provides you with essential and useful synthesis tools: • Two resonant filters, one Multimode, and one switchable between HPF and LPF called the UVI filter. • Amplitude and Filter envelopes (ADSR type). The Multimode Filter has an envelope amount knob. • One LFO that can be used for tremolo, auto pan etc. This is in addition to the integrated LFO that provides the modulation you expect when using a Mod wheel • Mono Mode with a glide time knob. This provides the most realistic mono-legato you’ve heard on a virtual synth. • Reverb’ module with 3 knobs to set the time, the high damping and the reverb’ mix • MIDI control of every knob and slider on the interface via standard MIDI continuous controllers Please download the manual if you want to find out more… The sound library: This is what differentiate each volume, otherwise identical. Each volume comes with a “data file” full of multisampled presets that are easily accessed through the interface of the plug-in. No mess on your hard drive, just the two files. Plugsound is supplied on a CDROM and the data files are between 540 and 660 MB in size. This is roughly ten times more waveforms than even the most recent synthesizers. Enough to offer the most in-depth exploration of a given instrument that a tone module has ever done. It evens beats most professional CDROM, limited by archaic formatting conventions which leave only a couple hundred megabytes on a disc… Welcome to the luxury of choice! Lighter studio, Fatter sound |

A Little history Most people want to buy a sampler to read and play sound library discs (like a super tone module, in a way). With Plugsound you don’t need to own a sampler, it comes for free with the sound library. In practice you don’t loose anything, you gain much in simplicity, quality and efficiency… A dream come true For years we’ve hoped that one day a computer would be a complete recording studio. We’re here: with a current computer (even a laptop), a sequencer and some Plugsound, you can produce great music, mix it and release it! The sound quality of Plugsound makes possible to prepare records on your computer Simplicity Plugsound is all about simplicity. You buy a sound library that you can open directly in your sequencer, and that will be saved with your file. It is a simple VST2/MAS/RTAS plug-in. All the controls are grouped in one window. You can switch between a basic and an expert mode: in both cases all controls are immediately visible. In use, it’s as simple as selecting a reverb on an audio track of your favorite sequencer. There is no simpler way to open the biggest sounding patches collection available today. Innovation The extended compatibility of Plugsound doesn’t stop at Mac and PC computers. Plugsound inaugurates better compatibility between studios: when you save a sequence in New-York using Plugsound, it includes all the Plugsound settings (including MIDI-driven ones like cutoff). So you can send the file to a studio in L.A. and with their copy of Plugsound the sequence will play exactly like it did in your studio. Whether you use Rocket Network™ or just email to exchange work, Plugsound’s compatibility will simplify your life even further… How it works Plugsound is a plug-in that will open in your compatible sequencer. As a virtual instrument, it will then show up in your MIDI destinations list. You can play it live or use it to voice a MIDI recording. On the instrument (or audio) track you can decide which audio output the plug-in uses, as well as any additional audio effects you may want to add. It’s that simple. Plugsound will use your computer’s RAM and processing power to play, so the faster the computer, the more powerful your Plugsound will be. Plugsound has run through optimization cycles several times for increased polyphony. The memory requirements depends on the sound you load from. This days, RAM is very cheap so don’t hesitate to stock up before loading Plugsound. This way, you’ll never feel limited. |
